The Fisher 1280x is an amphibious metal detector that can be used both on dry land and underwater in either fresh of salt water. It has three simple control dials which are easy to adjust. Other useful features found in the 1280x are its automatic ground balancing and discrimination modes.
Users however report erratic performance when used on the beach with constantly moving sand and salt water. It does much better when the coil is fully submerged. In fresh water environments, it delivers great performance.
